Frequently Asked Questions
Manufacturing & Ingredients
-
ProEnzol only uses vegan capsules made from cellulose fiber derived from the wood pulp of the Southern Yellow Pine (Pinus taeda).

Most ProEnzol supplements do not contain soy. However, six ingredients derived from soy are used in some products as follows:
Vitamin E (found in Female Balance™, Female Cycle™, and Skin, Hair, and Nails) is derived from soybean oil that has been purified to remove the soy allergens, making it safe to use for individuals with a soy allergy. Nattokinase (found in Cardiovascular) is an enzyme produced by a bacteria, Bacillus Subtilis, during the fermentation of Nattō or soybeans. Although Nattokinase is highly purified to remove all soybean residue, those highly sensitive to soy should use caution when taking nattokinase.
Beta-sitosterol (found in Prostate), phosphatidylserine (found in Memory & Focus), lecithin (found in AntioxidEnz™ and Nutritive™) are all derived from soy so they are not recommended for individuals with a soy allergy.

All ProEnzol supplements do not contain wheat, gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, trans fats, hydrogenated oils, artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners. Yes, ProEnzol supplements are formulated and manufactured to be as pure as possible which minimizes the possibility of an allergic reaction. We use only the highest-quality ingredients, avoiding common allergens and unnecessary manufacturing aids.
-
Most people with mold and/or yeast allergies can take ProEnzol supplements without any adverse reaction. Mold and yeast are different types of fungi and there are many varieties of each in our environment. The enzymes found in ProEnzol supplements are primarily derived from three types of mold (Aspergillus, Trichoderma, and Rhizopus) and one type of yeast (Saccharomyces). Although the enzymes are highly purified, meaning any residue of the fungus has been removed, the fact remains that the enzymes themselves are fungal proteins and it is generally the protein faction of a substance that elicits an allergic reaction. For this reason, if a patient has been tested and is found to be sensitive to Aspergillus, Trichoderma, Rhizopus, or Saccharomyces, or does not know which type of mold or yeast produces their allergic reaction, we caution against taking ProEnzol enzyme-based supplements.
-
No. ProEnzol supplements are not currently certified as kosher.
-
Yes, most ProEnzol supplements are completely free of animal-derived ingredients.
-
No. All of the ingredients found in ProEnzol supplements are non-GMO or non-genetically modified. Our ingredient suppliers are fully aware of our non-GMO policy and are required to provide statements certifying the ingredients have not been genetically engineered.
-
No. Although many of the ingredients in ProEnzol supplements are organic, the products themselves have not been certified as organic. When organic sources are available, we prefer to use them. However, herbal extracts and whole food concentrates are often either not available as an organic option or, when specified as organic, do not meet our strict microbial standards. Since pesticide residues are a concern with non-organic botanical ingredients, we routinely test each batch for pesticides.
-
Yes. Whenever possible, we use standardized herbal extracts in ProEnzol supplements because the precise concentration of the active constituent(s) of the herb is known allowing for greater consistency between batches. However, many therapeutically valuable herbs are only available as non-standardized extracts. In either case, we use the most concentrated, highest-quality herbal extracts available on the market.
-
The odor of a ProEnzol product is completely dependent upon the combination of ingredients in the formulation. Herbal ingredients, in particular, can have a very strong aroma.
-
ProEnzol supplements contain natural ingredients which may vary in color, texture, and odor from batch to batch. These variances occur most often with ingredients from botanical sources due to different seasonal and environmental conditions during their growth and harvest. To ensure quality, each batch of an ingredient is thoroughly tested. A change in color, texture, or odor may also occur when modifications are made to improve the effectiveness or stability of a product formulation.
-
Only premium ingredients backed by sound research are used in ProEnzol supplements. We source most of these ingredients from well-respected suppliers in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. The supplier chosen depends upon their ability to consistently provide the highest-quality ingredient. Each must pass our rigorous quality and testing audit to become a ProEnzol ingredient supplier. All ingredients undergo testing for identity, potency, and purity by an independent laboratory prior to being used in the manufacture of a ProEnzol product.
-
ProEnzol quality assurance protocols include extensive testing of ingredients and finished products by a reputable, independent third-party laboratory. All ingredients are tested for identity, microbial contaminants, heavy metals (including mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and lead), solvent residues, and pesticides, as applicable. All finished products are assayed to verify the potencies of the active ingredients are no less than 100% of the label claim.
-
All ProEnzol supplements are manufactured in a facility that meets or exceeds Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for nutritional supplements established by the FDA. In addition, the manufacturing facility is NSF-certified meaning an independent organization has verified that ProEnzol® products are manufactured and tested in compliance with GMPs. For more information, please see Quality & Efficacy.
-
The nutritional supplement industry is tightly regulated and routinely inspected by numerous government agencies, most notably the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA essentially controls all aspects of the ProEnzol manufacturing and quality control process as well as stipulates what and how information must be provided on all ProEnzol product labels.
